CYIA is a 10-day training school for teens and young adults from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Vermont who desire to become summer missionaries or how to teach children in their church. Students will receive dynamic teaching and grow in their faith as they learn how to evangelize children. CYIA is an intensive training program but also provides time for fun and friendship. Students leave with changed hearts, confidence in teaching, and a passion for reaching the lost. After completing the CYIA program many students go on to teach 5-Day Clubs® around their home state throughout the summer.
CYIA is held the end on June at beautiful Camp Marion in Marion, MA. Each day starts with a guest speaker in chapel time, then students attend classes and workshops throughout the day, with time each afternoon for free time and a special fun activity, such as group games, scavenger hunts, and un-talent night. Evenings end with STP time (singing-testimony-prayer). CYIA students will put their training to use by going out to do open-air evangelism and will teach a one-day Party Club. CYIA ends with a commencement program that family and friends can attend.
There are a few different student tracks depending on student needs/ages:
Teaching Junior Grade (TJG): A training program designed for young teens ages 13-14. Students in this program learn how to teach the Wordless Book, songs, memory verse, and missions time. Those who complete the program can work at 5-Day Clubs during the summer as Summer Missionary Assistants.
CYIA - Regular Track - For students ages 14 +. This is the full CYIA program where students learn how to teach the Wordless Book, all of the parts of the 5-Day Club, and how to teach an evangelistic Bible lesson. All who plan on teaching at a 5-Day Club must attend CYIA to learn that summer’s curriculum.
Leadership Track - This is a special, invitation-only program for older students who have already gone through the CYIA program a few years, have demonstrated leadership potential, and are ready for the next level in training. Students will learn how to teach a Christian-growth Bible lesson, lead a team of TJG and CYIA students, and even learn how to teach a CYIA class. Students in the Leadership Track are considered Jr. Staff and must demonstrate a servant’s heart and a close relationship with God.
